Major #spoilers for both SMT Nocturne and Undertale here, obviously. I kept saying I wasn’t going to write this essay but I wrote the essay. I have stuff to say about the Undertale monsters as a parallel to manikins, as well, but it needs more percolating.

I'd never actually finished SMT Strange Journey before (I got stuck in Carina when my flashcart crapped out) but I'd known spoilers and I'm now nearly through with my first playthrough of Redux. I'm on Chaos and just shy of finishing up the new version of the route. I also looked up the cutscenes for the new Law route -- you can find them here -- and they are completely delightful. A bit twee, but delightful. Honestly, most of the added content is slightly twee but very charmingly so. New Neutral route sounds dumb, though. Do Law or Chaos.
