SMT Strange Journey Redux
I'd never actually finished SMT Strange Journey before (I got stuck in Carina when my flashcart crapped out) but I'd known spoilers and I'm now nearly through with my first playthrough of Redux. I'm on Chaos and just shy of finishing up the new version of the route. I also looked up the cutscenes for the new Law route -- you can find them here -- and they are completely delightful. A bit twee, but delightful. Honestly, most of the added content is slightly twee but very charmingly so. New Neutral route sounds dumb, though. Do Law or Chaos.
I'd seriously missed the memo about Jimenez also brainwashing the party, though. I knew Zelenin did and I'm too horrified to ever play through Law route because I just cannot do that to Zoe, but the Delphinus parasite coming back was. Welp. But I'm laughing forever at what happened to Irving.
I feel really bad for Zoe and Williams in Chaos route, though .... It's not nearly as bad as Law, but Zoe seems to have forgotten about her previous desire to vivisect Jimenez and Zelenin, and Williams had been admiring the fact Jimenez turned half-demon and now that she's possessed she's too out of it to, like, go through with it. We could've had a murder doctor and a second half-demon but Jimenez fucked it up. I don't think he even realises he fucked it up. He fucked up so bad. How badly do you have to fuck up for your attempts at getting people to be More Murder to end up with Less Murder?
I hope neutral route Zoe gets to live her dream. Or hell, just let Zoe live her dream either way. She wants to know how they tick. Get her drugs and either the protag or Wolf as her muscle and let her have fun with her scalpel. She has needs.
